Hi,
This is my first time owning an SLR and I took some shots from a catamaran trip of the island as we were moving. The pictures were taken mostly at the same settings, maybe different zooms, and there is no post editing on the pictures. The link to the entire album is here and here is a specific picture to look at: ![]() Exposure: 1/640 sec at f/5.6 Focal Length: 18 mm ISO: 100 Flash: Did not fire Model: Canon EOS Rebel T3 Lens: EF-S18-55mm f/3.5 Things to note, the image should be the proper size, if not I'll edit it. I was standing on the trampoline on the front of the catamaran when I took it so my balance was off and I think it is lopsided. I'm not sure how to edit that with Lightroom and I don't know what adjustments I should do to make the picture look cooler. I would appreciate any advice on camera settings and post processing to improve the pictures (if any of it is needed at all). I use a Canon Rebel T3 body. Some shots were taken with a 18-55mm lens and some with a 75-300mm lens. Last edited by mareti; 10-11-2011 at 03:30 PM. Reason: exif data |

Welcome to DPS. I like the color and transparency of the water. Not knowing what you were trying to do makes it a bit difficult to give specific input on if you met your intention for taking the photo.
General comments: - Tilted horizon- Can be fixind in LR while in the crop application - Your subject (the house) is dead center of the frame- Search this site or Google on Rule of Thirds - I would crop making the fan palm in the right edge- unless the building to the left of the palm is part of the property, then I would crop out some on the right to include the entire property - I would shoot this at f8 - f11 for increased Depth of Field to retain sharpness from foreground to background You have kit lenses as I do. They tend not to be as sharp at the extremes of focal length. Keep shooting and posting. This site is a wealth of information if you look for it.
