Completely new to DSL camera. Currently in experimental mode. Tell me how I could have done this shot better in any aspect. Thanks

I would have recommended dropping down lower so we can see more of the road. That will provide a good leading line into the image. Having a car/bike/person on the road will give the image a focal point.

I would also use a smaller aperture to get better depth of field.

I would set your ISO to the lowest number and start shooting in aperture priority to help get you out of Auto mode. Most lenses are sharpest around f/8, so I would try taking your landscape shots starting at f/8 or f/11 and see if you notice a difference. You will probably need a tripod.

To me this picture looks too bright. A faster shutter speed could have helped. Also, I rarely use the AUTO for my ISO. I like to control that to get the right lighting I want. I also think this photo would have been better if taken in portrait style to show more of the road leading into the picture.
