2 purple cone flowers just starting to open. Taken at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul, MN. Any thoughts on the composition, depth of field, or coloring? Thanks for looking.

Shouldn't this be in the Macro section?

I don't think so - its not even close to a 1:1 representation.

Hello Susan,

I think that the depth of field is somewhat too shallow, since the left flower is partially in focus and I would like to see the leaves in focus as well. I also think that your photo is a bit unbalanced, there is too much empty space on the left side. I guess cropping it to square would work better, but it's not such a big deal.

Was it very windy, is that the reason you used such a fast shutter speed? If it wasn't windy then you should have dropped your camera's ISO to lowest possible value, to minimize noise and obtain best possible image quality.

Thanks for looking and commenting Milosh! I'll look at the cropping and see what I can do with it. I'm actually not sure why I had the ISO set so high - most likely we had been in a building and I got distracted and forgot to change it.
