Default Victorian Gatehouse Detail

This was a tricky subject because there are so many obtrusive things close to the building hence the wide angle lens. I'd like to know if I could crop it better, if there are any distractions & how could I bring out the images in the windows better? Oooh, and if anyone's got any suggestions to give it a bit more of the elusive 'pop' that'd be nice too, thanks!

Interesting find.
I would like to see the entire top of the building.
The verticle seems just a bit off
Was the inclusion of the limb in the upper left corner an attempt to frame the image? I do find it a bit distracting.

Keep shooting and posting.

Thanks. That's the problem of the scene. There's too much stuff in the way (trees, park signs, rubbish, etc.). It's a cracking subject potentially...

I added a new layer in GIMP, then did a levels adjustment. I just clicked the Auto button and moved the midrange slider a bit. I think this shows the design in the window better.

A circular polarizer is good for reducing glare off non-metallic surfaces like water and glass. Everyone should have one.

Thanks guys! I'm gonna keep revisiting the site & taking the picture in different conditions. Maybe it'll work better when the leaves have dropped? I'd have taken a tripod & been more contemplative if I didn't live in such a high crime area :-(
PS Did I overdo the wide-angle perspective correction a little?

Since the corner of the building is kinda bowed out, I don't think you have enough adjustment.

I think the trees is very very distraction. Another suggestion, if you really just want that portion of the building, take away the trees and give the composition a clean 50-50 symmetry with the dimmer portion and the brighter portion of the building... it might turned out to be fine...

The bowing of the wall is there in real life, it's a very neglected building unfortunately.
