Hello,
This is my first attempt at photographing any sort of landscape. This little house caught my eye. Not sure how I did with compostion and the other things. Did a bit of post editing. Would appreciate any and all comments. Thank you, Carrie ![]() House on the hill by drako44, on Flickr

A good attempt and I kinda like it.
Let's talk about composition since that was your leading question. 1. You placed your subject in the upper left third of the frame and not dead center, thumbs up for that. 2. You have a little bit of clouds in the sky to make it a bit more interesting. That is good. Would be better if better clouds, but we can't control the clouds 3. There is the fence in the foreground, that is good. Now my opinions on how to make the image stronger 1. There is too much distance from the fence in the foreground to the house with nothing in between to hold your attention. 2. There is a wooden structure just to the left of the house. I would have moved further camera left (or even just moved straight up the hill) and closer to that object or zoomed more and make that the foreground while not blocking the subject with the foreground item. I see what you were trying to accomplish and kudos for the effort.

Thank you to everyone for your comments.. My apologies for not including the EXIF information. Is there any way to bring that information over along with the photo in FLICKR? I am very much new at this and have not figured that part out of things yet.
I appreciate very much the suggestions made to improve on the photo. I am going to re-shoot the image. There are so many inspiring people on this forum and such a vast amount of knowledge.. I hope to learn lots. Cheers, Carrie

Click on your image in Flickr and select the Actions dropdown Click on View Exif info Highlight the EXIF data you want to include, copy to your clipboard Toggle over to your post and Paste from your clipboard Screenshots: ![]() The list of EXIF data is typically a long list of information, you only have to copy the info that you want. My example below is typically the minimum you want to list. ![]() Hope that helps

THANK YOU Gulf Coast Girl.. A great help! With respect to your comment re: my image, I did not clone the fence.. Would love to know how to use that tool though. I haven't reached that point yet
So many things to learn, not enough hours in the day. Cheers, Carrie
