Nikkon D3100
Focal Lenght = 100.0 mm Exposure = 1/300 Aperture = f/10.0 ISO = 300 I'm new to the photography world; I started with a GE low budget camera and finally bought a Nikon D3100. I really love to take pictures especially the ones unexpected. Please let me know if you like it and give me pointers to make it better. Last edited by IRodriguez; 09-14-2011 at 02:11 AM. |

It looks good to me. You're shooting a good time of day and the composition is fine. I would maybe crop a little of the sky, but otherwise, I like it. You might lower your ISO to 100 to minimize noise (not that I see any in your shot).
The only thing I can think of that might improve it is if you could incorporate some foreground interest in the shot, but that may not have been possible from your location.

athough im new to photografy and not the most experienced ive been reading a lot and trying to apply why i learn in the forums to my shots. I think that for this shot i would straighten the horizon line a little bit and apply the rule of thirds for this shot. its just my amateur opinion and I understand the rules can also be broken for artistic reasons. Other than that its a great shot.

Nice location and nice job capturing the mood. I agree with the others, the horizon need slight straightening and its always better to shoot at the lowest setting your camera allows if you are shooting from a tripod.
I would suggest to crop out most of the sky bringing your horizon close to the upper 3rd of image. There isn't much interest in the upper part of the sky and it would help emphasize your sunset. Keep up the nice work
