What do you think about the composition. It's slightly leveled and only cropped to square back up.

Your composition is a little off center. I would crop out the the area to the right of the right column. Overall nice work

Can you explain why you used such a narrow DOF for this shot? Could it be to keep enough shutter speed to handhold this shot? For my taste, the shot would be much more interesting if the barrel in the foregroung was in focus.

I agree with the composition being just a bit off center.

Keep on keeping on.

Still pretty new at this and I believe it would not focus unless I used a large aperture. You are also correct about hand holding and not tripod.
Thanks for the feedback.

A tripod is a required piece of equipment if you plan on continuing with landscape and cityscape photography. Since I don't have any big, heavy honking glass, my $40 US tripod is filling my needs very well.

Add me to the group that would like to see this centered better and with deeper depth of field. I'd also prefer not to see the vibrant green on the right. Lastly, I think shooting from a lower position might have been more interesting.

The color and texture of the scene is interesting. This could be really interesting at night, depending on how the ambient lighting comes through the pillars. You'd really want a tripod for that, though, as I'm sure exposure times would be well-beyond what you could realistically hand-hold. Even something like the Gorillapod would be capable of holding your P&S.

The whole image is soft, so here's another vote for using a tripod. I like the composition. It might be a little more interesting if you were a little closer to the foreground barrel.

I'd suggest using a Levels adjustment to set the white and black points (grey is tougher to do). I think that would give the image more "pop."

I think a contrasty black and white with a little crop would work really well with this. There's a lot of texture to this image, and removing the color information and pushing levels allows you to bring that texture out.

A before/after in Lightroom is attached as an example of where I might go with this. Let me know if you want it removed.

The B&W looks really good and gritty!
