I think you are missing a focus point. And things which are supposed to be squared / parallel with the frame, make sure it stays that way, things like the horizon.
- Edited - Forgot to welcome you to DPS. You will realize how helpful people here are. Some are very straight forward and right up to the point which is good I feel, at least they are constructive.

I think you have a very photogenic scene there and I like the foreground and how it leads my eye into the image. I do agree about the lack of a subject. I am puzzled why the water on the left looks so tilted when the tree in your shot looks vertical.
The colors in your image do not look realistic. What processing did you do? It looks like you have a dynamic range issue in that your camera could not capture the entire range from the darkest to lightest areas. It is a common problem in landscape photography. You could have used a graduated neutral density filter to compensate for that, or better yet, use a tripod and take the shot closer to sunset.

The horizon really needs to be level in the picture. That is the biggest thing that I see in this picture that takes away from the quality.
The second thing is that the "temperature" of the picture (during photoshopping?) seems to be turned far towards the colder side... warm it up a bit and let the colors come out! Interesting subject though. I do agree it needs a focal point, which could have been that interesting erosion you mentioned, but it is still a good picture.
