Default Fire Flies

Hi All,

Night photography used to be my worst nightmare initially. But recently I've started liking night photography. I would appreciate if someone can critique this shot and let me know how I can improve my night photography skills:

Fireflies

Exif Information:
Camera Nikon D60
Exposure 7.1
Aperture f/6.3
Focal Length 55 mm
ISO Speed 200

I really like this image. The long exposure has given you the bonus of a dramatic sky to go along with the lights of the city and I love the overall colors in the shot. My only question is about those log lines coming from the buildings to the bottom of the frame. I'm not even really sure of what they are or what caused them. Somehow, they seem to take my eyes away from the central part of the image rather than leading me to it. But good overall presentation. Nicely done.

I agree with Infinite Monkey. Overall I like the shot. However those lines throw me off the image. What caused them? Did you intend to have them there?

Thanks for looking into it, These lines are nothing but the lights in the building.

How did I get these lines "I pressed the shutter release button and changed the focal length after pressing the shutter release button"

I am not sure if action above is bad for lenses health or not but I liked the output.

I thought this must be lens zooming out! I don't think it's bad, it's just like normal zooming.
