Hi Everyone,
I just got back from a trip to Alaska where I think I got a few good pictures. I want to post a few in this section to get a critique from you guys on what you like or don't like, what you think I could have done better, and any other advice or comments that you may have. This was my first opportunity at photographing truly beautiful landscapes and I want to know how I did at capturing it. This is the first picture that I am posting of a glacier in southern Alaska. Thank you in advance for your expertise. Canon T1i Canon 70-200 f/2.8 non IS ISO 200 70mm f/4.5 1/1250 AWB Polarizer filter |

Just two general thoughts ... landscapes usually use the "sweet spot" of your lens, which is between f8 and f16 or f11 - can't remember ... I usually hover around f11. You could easily have done that since your shutter speed was so high at f4.5. Also I think I would have gone for a landscape composition and cut out that vegetation at the bottom, maybe just keep the line of trees and enough vegetation to balance it ...

I do agree on the aperture settings as said by crockny. try at F8 to F16. Beautiful glacier is the main subject and should be in frame more IMO .. So I tried this composition and framing just for viewing... each with a slight different ratio. 5x4 and 6x4..

It looks like it was pretty bright out when the photo was taken. I think this shot would work great with a GND filter stacked over the polarizer.
