Default Early morning with HDR post processing planned

I am determined to learn the art of post processing the photos I am taking - and specifically determined to learn to create HDR images. I have decided that I will devote at least 1 day per week to finding and shooting photos. I only wish I could spend more time at this.

This image was taken at about 30 minutes after "official sunrise" time in northwest Houston Texas. I appreciate all comments and suggestion on how I could improve.

Exinfo:
Model Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL
ISO 100
Exposure 1/500 sec
Aperture 3.5
Focal Length 28mm
Compression 1
Date and Time (Original) 2011:08:06 07:17:20
Attached Images
File Type: jpg Champions_Temple_tonemapped.jpg (145.5 KB, 65 views)

The only problems I have with this photo, is that the building looks like it's leaning backward, and the top and bottom are cut off in the picture.

The top of the tower being cut off bothers me. Why did you use such a large aperture? f11 to f16 would be better for sharpness I think ...

Not really a fan of the grayed sky that is creating that extreme glow around everything. Back that off a bit. It will let you have more color in your sky, which will make the building pop more. But then there is the loss of part of the building...

The glow looks really bad. This is overdone HDR.
