Default Mt Dora Gazebo

I started playing around with textures in my photos. Wanted to go for a painterly look in them. Here is a one of my most recent shots. Any comments would be great. Did I over do it on the textures, does the image work better with them. Anything like that would be very helpful. I have some more on my Flickr site as well feel free to critique an of those as well.

I really like this. You've definitely captured a painterly effect, and the color, saturation, and sharpness is good. The empty white chairs in front of the gazebo create a feeling of anticipation or expectation and lead me to create a narrative about what is happening next. Overall, a very good, strong image.

As a fellow newbie I have to say you won't get much feedback without the EXIF Data & possibly a little info on your Post Production work. It looks like an HDR image but there's a lot of black in the background.
I like the the subject though & the execution's pretty good imo.

Looks like a gouache painting. I like this a lot, very creative. I don't find the textures too much, you've kept a sense of depth with the shadows.

Thanks I completely forgot about the EXIF Data, its now under the image.

As for the post work I basically adjusted levels in Lightroom then exported it int Nik Color Effects Pro, and used the tonal Contrast Filter. From there its just some custom layers in PS to get the textured look.

I like this picture. You seem to have gotten good highlights between the foreground and background but not so much that it looks over processed. You also have a little of the top of the gazebo blown out. Don’t know if it was done in post processing but I really like it. If only we could get rid of the building in the background.

This is a great photo and it seems you succeeded in what you were trying to do.

This is Mount Dora, FL? I’ve been there a couple of times for a golf tournament for the Central Florida Bible Camp. I always thought that place was so pretty with the moss hanging from the oaks. Beautiful landscape, not something most of the world sees every day.

I think the texture is ok. You didn't ask for help on composition, but I do find the foreground a little busy, and it detracts from my attention to the gazebo.

Nicely done Bryan. I think you have accomplished your goals with this image. And your website is pretty well done too! Nice and fast.

Maybe we will run into each other some time, as I get to Oviedo pretty regularly.
