Default Walk Trail - BW - What is your take?

I shot this a while ago as part of my lens evaluation but last night while reviewing these pics, this one jumped at me. Did some post processing (converting to BW / adjusting curves etc). However, I wasn't fully sure if this picture is really something to hold on to. What is your experts take on this? Specifically in the areas of composition / focus of the subject / mood etc.

EXIF:
Nikon D300 with 18-200mm lens
f4 @ 18mm
Exposure time: 1/160
ISO:200

I hope to hear your comments.

I like your idea to lead the viewer's eye down the path, but I think the darkness of the path is detracting from your shot. The eye naturally goes to the lightest part of the image, which is the sky. So, my eye ends up going to the silhouette of the tree against the sky and not down the path. If you could reshoot this, I would recommend shifting the perspective upwards to emphasize the tree branches against the sky or maybe wait for a time of day/year when the path will not be so dark.

Thanks Krusty. I find myself wandering towards the brighter area from the path. I agree that I could PP the sky area to less brighter to focus on the walk way, which I tried but the tree was going too dark so left it as is. Will give it a shot again.
