Default Boat with Canadian Geese

shot I took from my window, boat leaving the marina with some geese around. How is the placement? what would make this shot better?

For me, at least, your composition doesn't have a primary subject. If you're trying to show the boat with the geese as additional detail, you have far too loose a crop. If you're trying to show the geese, the same applies. If you're trying to show the juxtaposition of the two, your subjects weren't cooperating.

I think you would need a longer lens (so the subjects fill more of the scene) and a lower shooting angle (to force the subjects closer together on the frame) to have any chance here.

I should perhaps note that I say this as someone who has gigabytes of Canada Goose rejects on my hard drives. There's an element of luck in shooting wildlife. That said, "Fortune favors the prepared mind", so if you shoot enough to be able to know what to look for and are ready for it when it happens, you'll have more success (and your own gigabytes of rejects. )
