This is a picture i took last summer, its a grits mill in the north carolina mountains
what do y ou think about the composition and color.It looks like the roof of the building is alittle blown out to me. But just wondering what everybody else thinks about the picture

Nice comp of a quaint scene. The roof maybe a little blown out, but not so much it's a real spoiler. You could burn it in a little and perhaps dodge a little into the shadows on the wheel side of the mill. An early morning or late afternoon shoot might have been advantageous. Nice capture.

I like that scene quite a bit, but in the bright mid-day light, the dynamic range is awfully high. Were it mine, I'd pull down the highlights and pull up the shadows. I'd use Lightroom, but most packages could do that. It will work best if you start in RAW, but you can get quite a bit out of even a .jpg in post.

If you ever make it back to the same place, you might want to try to catch it near sunrise or sunset, when the light isn't so harsh.
