Default summer sunset

f/16
iso 100
shutter, 4s,6s,10s

aeon: gunma

I would like to take this to print and was wondering whether the lighting is even, from to top to bottom of the image?

The shutter speed was adjusted for the sky - 4s, land (buildings, mountains) - 10s and water 6s.

I am open to all other critiques as well?
cheers.

The exposure looked pretty good to me, but I checked the histogram and it is showing some clipping at the right end of the spectrum. I'm guessing the distant lights in the middle and left side of the shot are causing that. You could easily tone the lights down in PP.

I know you can't change it now, but I find the foreground more interesting than the upper part of the sky and would have liked to see less sky and more foreground.

Sorry for the delay in reply,

Thanks firephotoguy, appreciate the love.

krusty: when shooting, I was torn between the sky and the reflection, but [evidently] the sky won out in the end. having said that I can still crop the image so that the water is more prominent. Here is a quick crop that I did.

Regarding the clipping, there is not much I can do about that, because those are details that I have lost.

I think the cropped version is much better! Other than that, I find it strange that the reflection is brighter than the sky. It should be less bright, right? Maybe I'm wrong about this..

I like the 2nd version better also. In a way, you did not "lose" the sky because you can still most of it in the reflection. I didn't think the clipping was a major issue because I think it was only those tiny lights in the distance that looked blown out. Cool shot!

Thanks krusty79 and milosh. Muchly appreciated.

Milosh: assuming that you are referring to the reflection in the second shot, I think its prominence in the shot gives the illusion that it is brighter. But I will have a closer look. at the original tonemapped image.

Again thanks.
