New to photography

Default Beginner's dead tree

A little story first:
I'm new here and only just recently decided to really get into photography. Two Christmas's ago I got a FujiFilm Finepix S1500. Up until last week, I've only been taking photos now and then. Of course I was using auto mode. So yesterday I went on a walk and decided to shoot in manual mode. A lot of the pictures turned out better than I expected since previous forays into manual mode produced bad photos.

The critique:
I really like this photo, but with my limited knowledge, I couldn't get rid of the over exposure on the trunk. All the important image information is in the "photo info" box to the right of the photo.

Please put the exif information with the post, please. It makes things easier.

I'm not having a good post writing day, so the quick answer is that you need to use a faster shutter speed to let in less light. Read up on the exposure triangle for a better explaination.
