Default Silhouette of a Barn

Photo: Barn Silhouette | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I like this picture and this is what I wanted to achieve, but it seems like I am missing something and it doesn't seem as satisfying as I had hoped it would. I don't know what else I should do with it, or how I could have changed it to get a better result. I didn't edit this photo much, I just decreased the brightness a few bits in RAW and increased the vibrance a touch in Photoshop CS4.

It is an old barn in front of the setting sun. I didn't have much time to get this shot because the sun was just about to fall below the horizon.

Nikon D3100
240mm
1/800s
f/7.1

If what you wanted was a silhouette, you've got it. However, you say that it's missing something-- I agree with you. I think that what you are missing is some detail on the barn. If you measure the light from the sky you're going to get what you got. So, I think that you need to re-shoot and try to get some sort of compromise between the light and the dark when you are measuring for your exposure. Like in the old days. Do you remember film photography? Expose for the shadows and develop for the highlights. Anyway, it's just my humble opinion.

Much easier to critique if we dont have to flip back and forth from one page to another. Could you post your photo for us here? Please and thank you

I will try to get some more detail on the barn. That is very true that I am missing it! Thank you so very much!

Don't mention it. I'm glad to have helped.
