This is really a very nice shot. Just some recommendations. There is a bit of "burn-out" in terms of the sun. Personally I think the ISO was a bit high, you can step it down to 100 and open the aperture a bit wider and/or increase the shutter speed.
Then I think you could have panned your camera a bit to the left to include more of the structure and try to set your TTL metering mode to partial metering, this will avoid/lessen the rash lighting/brightness of the background.
I know shots like this is quite difficult because you have two extremes of exposure - very bright and very dark.
Maybe what you can also do when taking a shot like this, is to take two shots of the same picture. The first one will be to focus on the very bright part of the picture and set your exposure/settings accordingly. The second one will be with the focus on the darker part of the picture and also set your exposure/settings accordingly. Then when you edit the shot in what ever editing software you use - to merge/combine the two shots as one. You will be amazed by the effect. The darker colours of the structure will be more visible and the bright of the sun will be less. I hope this helps.

Regards - Albert

Deardevil,

Wow, what a beautiful shot!

I agree with everything Albert Ward said above -- you need to pull out some more detail on that building. If you shot the picture in RAW on your camera, you might be able to do it in Post Processing since getting that photo again twice might be a bit difficult.

One thing I have been playing around with just recently is something called HDR imaging. Meaning "High Dynamic Range". As Albert said, you take multiple photos at different settings and then combine them into a single photo. One of the easiest ways I have found to do this is with "Exposure Compensation" modes on your camera. Your canon d500 will do it, and after a quick youtube search, it tells me to go to page 86-87 in your manual. I am sure you can find a video on youtube as well.

The basic concept is: Take an underexposed picture -- so you can see all the highlights and details in the really bright areas. Take a normal exposed picture -- so you can see all the midtone details really well. Then take an over exposed picture -- so you can see the detail in the really dark areas. Then you use whatever software you like to combine the best of both images. You can do it yourself, or you can use software specifically designed for it.

I like the muted colours you have in this picture, but I might also play around with saturation as well. See if you can nicely pull out more colour in that sky. It really depends on the mood you are looking to achieve. In this picture as it is right now, it feels subdued and quiet, like any loud noise might disturb the peaceful landscape. If feels calming and soothing. I like it.

I will add that your image seems to lack a subject or focal point to hold the viewer's attention.
