Default Catherine Creek

I took this picture last weekend. I am curious what others think. I was trying to show the depth of the gorge with the main focus of the river.
The PP is a very weak link for me and I can fiddle with the settings all day not achieving what my eye caught at the photo site. With the wet spring the green is viberant in person but is it too vibrant in the photo!

That's a really big creek! You've captured a cool scene there, but I think the image lacks a focal point to hold the attention of the viewer. My eye doesn't know where to settle.

Default Catherine Creek

There is a slight tendency for the eye to wonder around, but I think as I see the creek as the focus point - it gently leads the eye into the back ground.
I don't really see a problem with this shot, but I assume by looking at the shadows, this shot was taken mid day. The fore ground colours tend to lean towards the yellowish side where the colours of the hills is almost an unnatural green and I think if the sky was more blue, you would have ended up with a very nice shot.
If I am right about the time of day, I recommend you take your landscape shots either earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon. The light reflection would be less intense and I think you will end up with a much more accurate perception of saturation.

Regards - Albert

thank you for the feedback. It was a mid day shot. With it being an hour from home I randomly took it. I would love to do a early sunrise here... someday!

I don't know if this really helps or not as I am a total amateur but it seems like the stream is the focal point so I reduced some of the foreground and also darkened the sky just a little.

Wow yes that helps I think! It get rid of the yellow green grass in the foreground that was distracting. Thank you, you made my shot look better!

The Columbia River, looks like somewhere near The Dalles. Looks like you were able to take this on a nice, clear day. You would have earned extra points with me if you would have shot this closer to sunset or sunrise.

LOL I thought of your pictures from a winter post, when I choose this one to critique! It is on the Washington side between lyle and bengin (?) the trail head is catherine creek. To far from home to wait until sunset I can only image the pretty colors cast on the mighty Columbia river! We live at the west end Equal in beauty, yet so much different.
