What do you think about using a Tiffen filter to enhance and deepen the blue of the sky? Would this type of a filter work with this type of camera?

Yeah, without even opening the file, I can tell you need to shoot this at a different time of the day. Some clouds would help, also.

I don't think Tiffen makes filters you can use on a point&shoot camera. I know French Cokin makes some and also I've found lensmate: Lensmate: Lensmate SX30, SX20, SX10 & SX1 Filter Adapter 58mm

Besides these, I know they also have magnetic filters which you can apply to front of your lens like normal filters, but their website is down right now so I can't find it.
