Default His & Hers

I've always felt the hierarchy of an image is content and composition. Then instantaneously, color, contrast, depth, exposure...everything technical to make a great shot follows. But it all starts with the content.

In this shot I did the opposite (or tried to). I wanted to make color the most important element and the second level be content. So, do you think I achieved my hierarchy? And overall what do you think of the composition? Thanks in advance for commenting!

love the colours but the composition is not very ok. I understood what u did but leaving composition second is not my kind of thing :P. I would have use the rule of thirds, leaving the ground just a little bit in the image .

ps: again, love the colours ! so simple, so nice. It calms me

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment aircraft! True, the rule of thirds is good to use 99% of the time. But I was really trying to work with positive/negative space. I wanted to keep all the positive space far away to give it an isolated lonely feel. It was a gorgeous sunny day which is not very conducive for expressing loneliness. Using the sand foreground provided the isolation I was looking for. Also these objects with the bright soothing color are porta-potties!! I certainly wanted to keep that in the distance!

So, 1 out of 90 viewers has an opinion on this...sad.

Hi Ross.
I really like the colours on this and the idea of letting the composition take the back seat is interesting to say the least. However, given the shape of your subject (the porta-potties), I would have gone with a vertical shoot, keeping the subject high and more negative space in front than on the side to give a sense of distance (might be called "A long way to go")

Yes I can see that! Shot with something like a 10mm ultra wide lens. Thanks metallion!
