Default Broken Power Pole

After severe storms, this truck was parked for several days to hold up a broken power pole. After passing this on my daily commute for almost a week, I finally just had to stop and snap a few.

I first tried making exposure adjustments in Lightroom to create 1 under and 1 over exposed image. I then tried to experiment with some HDR....and that just flat out didn't work. Oh well...

Anyway, do you guys/gals think this is "over-processed?" Originally the sky was completely blown-out, and I did what I could in Lightroom to try to recover it as best I could. But I'm not sure how well I did. How do you think the processing turned out?

For that matter, any other critiquing is most certainly welcome, and would be appreciated!

EXIF:

Camera: Canon EOS Rebel T2i
Exposure Time: 1/125 sec
Aperture Value: f/7.1
ISO Speed Rating: 100
Flash Fired: Flash did not fire
Metering Mode: Pattern
Exposure Program: Manual
Focal Length: 44mm

i think it would have been nice to see some clouds. In my opinion, the colours are nice, a little bit saturated but nice

Yeah, I wish there were more clouds too, but unfortunately there just weren't much in the sky anyway.

A lot of people viewing, nobody commenting. It's okay if you all have negative things to say. I can take it.

Without the description, I don't know that this image would speak to me. It's bright and vibrant. There does appear to be some blown area on the boom which bothers me more than the shapeless sky.

I think the other thing that kind of gets me is, there's a lot of crispness front to back, so the image gets kind of busy. The road on the left leads me to the sign, which then causes me to see the other poles and the antenna. If I get to the right, the hydrant and nose of the truck are crisp, then I hit that brightness on the boom and want to find something else to look at.

A bit less on the exposure to bring the sky and the highlights down some, then either fill in with a little flash if possible, or a bit of fill light in post might have helped. A wider aperture and smaller depth of field might have been good as well.

Hello High Speed, I really like your choice of subject here. It's as though the truck has come to help out the poor old power pole after the severe storms

My only suggestion would be to have taken a few steps closer to the front of the truck to tighten everything up a little. This would help the viewer focus on the truck, the pole, and maybe the Whitley County sign. I think the road barrier on the left and the power poles in the background are a little distracting.

Well done on taking the time to make this shot!

Thanks for the comments. I can't do much with the blown areas/focusing right now, as I'm at work, and the original files are at home. But here's a quick recropping. Would this cropping have been a little better, you think?

That's looking better already, brings more focus onto the truck and the power pole. If you ever go back and take another shot I'd love to see it. Thanks for sharing High Speed

Thanks for the comments, all. Unfortunately, the original file is at home, and I can't access it right now from work, but I might have another try at this one in the future. Apparently, I don't get another shot at this one, though, as the power company fixed the pole a few days ago.
