Default Does this sign work?

I was just wondering if anyone had any good advice on how to have a signage picture work? I like taking location signs when I visit a new place so I know where the place is looking back. Here's one is took when I was on Rottnest Island, WA.

Rotto 2011-19

The rest of my Rottnest set is here

How is the composition? is the colour too overdone? does it work for you? Feedback is much appreciated!

Camera Sony NEX-5
Exposure 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture f/13.0
Focal Length 37 mm
ISO Speed 200
Exposure Bias 0 EV

cheers!

Hi jankcl,

If you want to emphsize on sign, it is not done here. To my eyes, road is the centre of attraction, and I go along with it giving the sign a secondary look.

I think, you should have bent a little on you knees and keep the sign in your eye level. Also, you can shoot the sign from near to its right hand side giving some depth to the board.

However, this is my vision, all the best!

Thanks for your input! I will remember that for next time. Those as much as i wanted to take a picture of the sign... I wanted to have some context/background to the sign aswell, hence i went for a more wide angle look.

I tried a more "head on look" of this sign below, but I found it a bit incomplete.. any thoughts/opinion?
