Hi Art,
I see you have posted another Venice shot, very nice. I think the exposure and focus are great, but I think the composition is a bit off. Just a personal opinion I suppose but I would love to see all of the gondolas, instead of just the front half of each one. Also, I don't a genuine feel of what Venice would be like. Although the gondolas may be authentic, that massive advertisement billboard in the background doesnt do much for me (not your fault I know). When I think of Venice I don't picture commercial adverstising. Simon

yes, in fact the Gondolas were the prime subject, the bridge was a reference only
Thanks Art

To focus our attention more on the gondolas, you could keep the width and shorten the height - placing the gondolas on the top third rather than the lower third, so losing the distraction of the commercial work.
The other potential improvement to contemplate is the angle of the gondolas. Straight on in this way, though the horizon is straight, produces a fairly static and staccato feel, like the prongs on a fork. Introducing more angle to highlight the gondolas length, or from a lower viewpoint to show their sleekness might achieve more here. The caveat is that I suspect you might not want to be dangling your camera inches from the water, which is fully understandable! |

Absolutely correct, I took some care of the camera
