Default Liverpool Big Wheel - please critique

Hi everyone. I made another thread but think it was deleted? At any rate, I am offering this photo I took in Liverpool for critique. Any and all comments are most welcome.

Thanks very much for looking!

FYI, if you're asking for a critique, you're supposed to ask for comments on specific aspects of your shot (composition, processing, shutter speed, etc.).

The long exposure got you a nicely blurred wheel. The small aperture got you the star points on the lights and crisp front-to-back focus for a deep DoF. The colors look good.

I'd like to see some drama to the sky, or crop it down tighter to get rid of the empty blue dead space. The wheel isn't centered, and it's not offset enough to look like you're deliberately pushing for an off-center framing, so it's awkward to me. The wheel looks like it's falling back, probably from angling the camera up a bit to frame the whole wheel in the picture.

I'd re-crop a bit and do a little perspective correction, but otherwise, it's a nice image.

Thanks for the replies so far! I cropped the image to what you see here as I was trying to eliminate the "Pizza Express" sign on the left. Rookie mistake that I did not centre it.

Krusty I appreciate the help. I did not ask for one area in particular as I may not ask for the area that needs work, i.e., if I asked for technical feedback but the composition was rubbish.

I welcome C&C on all aspects of this image: whatever is off I would love to hear it!

I think your exposure of the wheel is fine. I was going to suggest shooting from a place where the wheel is not blocked by any trees or poles, but from looking at the scene, I don't know if that was possible.

If there was more water in the foreground, you would be able to get a cool reflection.

No doubt, but Krusty is right. You need to be your own worse critic if you want to improve your photography, that's the whole point of the section.

You'll also get a lot more replies if you make a little effort in your post with Exif details and self critique. If you don't make the effort then many others won't make the effort to comment on your work.
