Welcome to DPS and congratulations on your new Nikon.
In general, it is better not to center your subject unless it is a super compelling one. It is also a good idea to compose the shot to minimize any distracting elements like you have on the right. You can also clone them out later in PP. I would also recommend shooting in the golden hours and using a tripod. You'll get softer light and nice colors in the sky. You have a nice blue sky now, but I would back off the saturation a bit.

Hi.
I agree with Krusty. In addition I find this picure somewhat cluttered with no real subject or story. I think you might have done better getting closer to the tree and tried missing out the volleyball court. The hut to the left of the tree looks interesting, I wonder why you didn't photograph that with the sea in the background? Or perhaps going down onto the beach and seeing if you can find a nice composition with rocks or seaweed or somethign?

I almost suggested using the hut also. Do you have any cool rock formations down at the beach? Those work well also.
Here is an article you may find useful - http://www.livermorevalleycameraclub...O_critique.pdf
