I've recently discovered the joys of high-pass sharpening in GIMP. Like anything else, it can be abused if it's in the wrong hands. Did I oversharpen this? Or does it look reasonably natural?
As always, other comments regarding composition, editing, etc... are also welcome. Thanks in advance for your feedback. EOBeav, for me it looks really good. I think it looks realistic and doesn't look over processed, at least not in the larger version. In the smaller version I thought it looked a little bright. The only question I have is on the rock in the lower left, is that an animal or bird on the rock?

EOBeav I agree with dvtldav. It looks realistic and the colors are great particularly the moss. I like the way the lower part of the image appears blown out.
The only thing I see that is a little distracting is the shadow on the lower part of the rock on the right. I think this is a bit nick of nick picking though. Nice work

That's a beautiful shot. You know, the sharpness of the plants did jump out at me a little when I first saw the image, so I'm thinking it might be a little too sharp. I recently discovered the same feature in Paint Shop Pro and noticed it often, but not always does a nice job at the default settings. In PSP, I can adjust the radius and strength and I've played around with it a little, but I don't have a good feel for the correct settings yet.
Also, that little sub-falls in the left third is very interesting in its own right and you could probably get another nice shot of that by itself. Nice job.
