Default Critique Flower Shot

I took this shot with a Nikon D40X, 18-55mm lens and sb-600 Flash. Darkened bg a bit for Pop. Any posts positive or negative would be appreciated. Still learning.

Not sure if your focus is the flower or the fly. If you are using Photoshop, why not clone the fly out of the flower?

This should be in the macro section really.

Hi Bill, yes, this should certainly be in macro section.

The focus is off on this - neither the flower or the bee are focused. Can you please post your exif so that people can advice you on your settings and so that you can keep that in mind for future shots like this one?

Default The Focus

The Focus was actually the Fly in the flower, If I had zoomed to much on the fly, would've taken away from the vibrancy of the flower. The flower alone would've been sufficient? I thought the fly in it added something special. Thanks for your critique.

Default Thanks To All

Thank You everyone for your thoughts. Did Not think about putting this in the macro section, as I said, still learning all of this. As far as exif it was just the presets on my camera, I did not change anything. I can look it up though.

Thanks again for everyone's input.

Since the fly was the focus, you need to zoom in to show more of the fly and not worry about the flower. The flower’s DOF would still be visible. To me, the flower is overexposed. Also, the fly was kind of distracting. This would be just me: I would clone out the fly if I want the flower to stand out or zoom in more if I want the fly to stand out.
