Too dark??

Have I made it too dark?? tried to fill the entire frame with the tree as the background wasn't a lot promising, was pretty happy with the shot, though in PPP thought I made it a bit on the darker side, or is it the black border??

yep, too dark and very little detail.
I can barely see what you have shot or any of the detail

Yeah, I agree! And no, it's not just the border, the subject itself is too dark. There are some details but the whole image appears too dark to be pleasant for my taste.

changed brightness and cropped too to fill up more frame.. let me know..

The log does not seem to be in focus, so you really can't see the textures too well.
