Default First wide angle shot

Had a change to get out with my new lens for the first time. This was my favorite shot of the afternoon.

Did some lens correction and soft light overlay in PS. I was wondering what you all think about the lens corrections? Did I miss something that I should of corrected. Did I over correct?

As always Thanks

Compositionally, I think it's great. Nice use of symmetry. I thought it looked a little dark, so I brightened it up a little and reposted. Let me know if that's not ok. Congratulations on the new addition to your family. :-)

I was looking at it and I thought for a minute that there's just a little tad bit of distortion still (barrel) in the middle. But then that's ok as it's really not a lot and I know how hard it is to fix such things on pp.

I then realised that perhaps, the other little issue is that the angle of shot is not quite in the centre, so it seems that there's still a little distortion but in reality, it's the off-centre angle that is the issue. The centre arch/door should be right in the centre of the photo as this is quite a symmetrical shot but as it is, it's just a little off. I know I'm being a bit nitpicky now, but I guess this is what critiquing is for (as part of learning for the one offering the critique and the one receiving).

I also prefer the slightly lighter version as it highlights the colour and textures of the doors.

Otherwise, great shot and I'm so jealous of your new lens

Thanks EOBeav,

Absolutely OK.

I have a tendency to leave my images darker than they should, I think I need to walk away from them and then re-look and I think I'll notice that they're to dark.

When you lighten it did you add fill light or another technique?

Thanks graciousness,

I do notice know that you mention it, I need to bring the left side in just a touch, it's these kind of details that really help. Your not being nitpicky at all. This is what makes us better photographers, being critiqued and critiquing.

Just increased the brightness/contrast a little and kept my eye on the histogram.
