Default Early morning shot

Hi evryone,
This picture was taken in Santa Catarina (Brazil) and is a sunrise at the Atlantic Ocean. I'd like your opinion on white balance and post-processing. This is not HDR and I didn't have a filter. Other thoughts on composition are greatly appreciated too.
Thanks for your help,
Mauro

Hi MLeite

I really like the way you captured the light..... Great job!!!!

I think you've done good in your pp technique and the composition is nice.

Did you shoot this handheld? I think the image looks a little soft but it's hard to tell here.

Nice work

Thanks for your comments bearcat and benchdog. For this shot I used a tripod but the sand was a little muddy, so maybe it was not steady enough. I took a similar picture just a few moments after and used a different crop. Let me know if you like the new one better. Thanks again.

You do very nice work. My only critique is for something to think about for next time: I've seen shots like this with a .5 to 1-second exposure time, and sometimes you can get the flower of the water to look really cool. Also, you might want to think about shooting a little closer to the ground level, just for some different perspective. All in all, though, very well done. My last trip to the beach had me taking apart my new Manfrotto tripod afterward to get all of the sand out of it!

I like them both, it would be hard to pick a favorite.

I agree with EOBeav if you slow the shutter down you could get a real cool effect on the water.

Nice work

Very nice shots! I have no suggestions for improvement. After navcom told me that landscapes generally work better in landscape mode, I tried to pay attention to that and I hardly ever use portrait mode anymore. So, even though I prefer landscape mode, I like the foreground a lot in your portrait mode shot. That beach looks so inviting! Keep up the good work!

Thank you all for your kind comments and suggestions. They are very helpful. I actually tried to shoot from a lower angle, but the seawater scared my camera. I'll definitely revisit this location with some filters so I can use longer shutter speeds.
Best,
Mauro

Both shots are very well done. Personally, I prefer the first one because I like the infinite feeling of the ocean and the position of the sun. White balance -- LOVE the golden tone of the photo. Post processing -- whatever you did does not detract from the natural feel of the shot. Again, very well done!
