Heres one i took vertically using slightly different settings F22 which looks less sharp to me.

Edit-- This one is quite similar composition of the one you edited albeit without the brightness and sharpness.

Thanks for helping me improve my eye

Do to the overall vertical structure of the waterfall this subject lends itself to a vertical/portrait orientation. I would have liked to have less pool in the foreground and a little more above the fall unless there was something unsightly up there. The B&W conversion works well for this shot and I think you did great shooting more than one take. I find that multiple compositions if possible are really the best way to get the shot you want. If you have time to stand there and stare at the subject from different spots you can narrow down your compositions a good bit. But the trade off is loss of great light or some other component of a stunning photograph. Jim

I know High Force quite well.. Used to get very wet there during the summer months when I was a student. You've made me nostalgic!

I was going to say what Rick (EOBeav) said about going vertical, it accentuates the height of the falls. But having looked at his crop, I'd actually be very tempted to go for a square crop. It will give the falls enough room to give it context without losing the horizonal movement of the water.. Put a bit more space on both sides of the photo.

And much as it pains me to say it because I hate altering reality, but I'd flip this horizontally.. The eye naturally moves left to right, top to bottom in the Western hemisphere (the direction you read).. Having the falls flow right to left means the eye moves up hill against the flow of th water. Flipping it will allow the eye to move in a more natural direction, starting at the top of the falls, following the water flow to the bottom, then the eye is left to examine the shapes in the rocks on the right hand side of the photo.

Nice photo though, and a good conversion to B&W. Well done.
