Default Clutha River reflections

Hullo,

Usual stuff: composition and exposure.

In particular I'm interested in hearing about exposure as I used a 2 stop grad nd filter. Everytime I use it I keep thinking I should have bought a 3 stop so interested to hear peoples thoughts on that.

Clutha River in Wanaka

Exposure 0.1 sec (1/10)
Aperture f/16.0
Focal Length 12 mm
ISO Speed 200

Cheers,

F

Well, I do think the exposure is still a bit uneven...just a little dark on the L and quite a bit hot on the R.

I see what you're saying.

I've pulled the exposure back a bit so it's not so burned out. I could dodge some of the stuff on the left I'm just wary of that because sometimes it makes things look artificial. Would I have been better to pay attention to the high contrast and use something like the zone system to get a better exposure?

Awesome shot frisby, you're so lucky down there to have all those autumn colours.

Over 40yrs since I went to NZ and I can't recall whether I passed near this spot or not. However, even if the shot can be improved (and I also think a tweak or two with the dodge tool or exposure layers would be beneficial) I think it's still a great shot of a beautiful place.

Beautiful shots Frisby. Am hoping to get up Central for some shots of the autumn colours, next week. Might aim for Arrowtown, I understand there is some festival going on? Oh, and the viaduct at Muttontown is on my list as well - lots to see!

Thanks FKG, actually it was 40 yrs since my NZ trip (typo) and thanks to your link I discovered I never went to that area - trouble with NZ is that it is mostly breathtakingly scenic. Would like to back one day and show my wife.
