Default Taj Mahal

Hi All,

Wah Taj Wah

Camera Nikon D60
Exposure 0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture f/3.5
Focal Length 18 mm
Focal Length 18.3 mm
ISO Speed 200
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash No Flash

This image was taken on a boat in yamuna river. My idea was to take boat, sun and taj in the frame but that did not happen because of border police :-D

I would really appreciate any feedback for this photo!!

Hello Amit Raaj. I was wondering since when were border police patrolling the Taj Mahal. I am no expert, but you could have used perhaps a smaller aperture to get more DOF and a higher shutter speed to get a smooth flow of water. But the wrinkles in the water look good too.

Very nice pic.
The only thing that bothers me is the line in the water, i think it was due to a boat that passed through, probably the one you wanted in your pic. But i guess it would be difficult to remove in PP.

Hi amit raaj. i have just one small complaint. the taj mahal looks a bit impaired with its far-side minar missing...in my view thats a pretty fundamental omission, since you have included so many elements in your image - one wonders if you overlooked that or was it done deliberately..if its the latter, i'm very curious to know why? this looks liek it was shot from a boat, am i right?

Hi sgiedne,

Thanks for looking into it and there was no border police but the water police

While sitting there when I saw the Jal police, then no man's land between the garden and river, then police patrolling in the river................I guess I was over dramatic

I hope you will like Jal Police picture below:

About the apperture in the picture of Taj Mahal; I had no choice because with 18-55 lens f/3.5 is the maximum

Hi Abhivg,

Thanks for the comment, I agree there is a line and I am not sure how that line was captured. Because I was on the boat because getting off the boat on the other side of the river was not allowed so I am not sure what made that line in the water.

Thanks for the observation though.

I think you've misunderstood sgiedne (I had to read it twice myself)

Smaller Aperture means F/11, F/22 etc. (The f stands for focal length, the number is a reciprical, although I'm not quite sure what the exact relationship is, diameter maybe) Anyhow, that's what sgiedne was talking about, reducing the size of the hole so that the depth of field was increased and the speed reduced.. You were on water at the time, so I don't think you could have got the effect they mentioned about making the water appear flat because that kind of speed would have introduced motion blur, but if you reduced the aperture to f/7.1 your corresponding speed would have been 1/100s which would have been perfectly adequate for this photo.

I like the sunrise colors and you have a nice left to right flow in this image. I do find the birds distracting and would be tempted to clone them out. Too bad the water was not glassy - that would have given you a better reflection. Because of the bright sun, the Taj Mahal is underexposed. You could try some PP or exposure blending to expose it more. Overall, I like this shot, though.
