Hi all
As so many say, I'm quite new to photography and this is my first upload. I like this photo but would value other peoples opinions, tips and advice. This is as shot with no editing but it does seem to have lost some of its 'richness' with the upload. Many thanks. |

Technical.
Some areas look a bit overexposed, and the pic is a little noisy. Shooting at a lower ISO would help with the noise. You may be able to pull back the over exposure when post processing. Was the pic shot in RAW? Aesthetic. That white wall on the left draws my eye out of the photograph. Maybe cropping it out or reducing the brightness of it may help. Over all a very good first upload.

Thank you Richard. Your comments are much appreciated.
It was shot in RAW so there is a chance for some pp editing. With regard to the white wall, one of my (many) faults is that I tend to only 'see' what I'm concentrating on when I look through the viewfinder and often miss details on the periphery. Something I'm working on. |

Welcome to DPS. I'd say that's a pretty good shot. Someone here said that your eye naturally goes to the lightest part of an image and in this case that means the bright lights on either side of the brown building. Therefore, I think the bright lights are distracting viewers from your subject. I find my eye either wanting to see all of the building on the right, or none of it.
I know some of my images look dark after I upload them. I've never calibrated my monitor, though.
