Hi all, having a boat tour over the Rhine river in Germany
The Rhine (Dutch: Rijn; French: Rhin; German: Rhein; Italian: Reno; Latin: Rhenus; Romansh: Rain) flows from Graubünden in the eastern Swiss Alps to the North Sea coast in the Netherlands and is one of the longest and most important rivers in Europe, at about 1,233 km (766 mi),[2][3] with an average discharge of more than 2,000 m3/s (71,000 cu ft/s). The Rhine and the Danube formed most of the northern inland frontier of the Roman Empire and, since those days, the Rhine has been a vital and navigable waterway carrying trade and goods deep inland. It has also served as a defensive feature and has been the basis for regional and international borders. The many castles and prehistoric fortifications along the Rhine testify to its importance as a waterway. River traffic could be stopped at these locations, usually for the purpose of collecting tolls, by the state that controlled that portion of the river. Can you please critic composition? hand held pic, cloudly at 4:00pm around Thanks Art Exif Version=0221 Maker=Canon Model=Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS Scene Capture Type=Standard Exposure Mode=Auto Exposure Shutter Speed Value=1/60 Second Aperture Value=5.63 Flash=Off ISO Speed Rating=ISO200

Technical.
It appears to be a bit "flat" to me with the land segment being under exposed. I wonder how it would look with some PPing to give that area. some "pop". Aesthetic. To me all that water in the foreground doesn't help the photograph at all. How does it look with most of the water cropped out?

It's a bit difficult to critique thumbnails as I can't see them while writing.
But my initial reaction is.. It's very dark, no detail in the trees, there's too much water, the subject matter isn't clear.. Whether you were trying to show the hidden church or the trees and their colours? Sorry, I don't wish to be discouraging, but there really isn't much to go on in this photo. It's ok, but it looks very much like a snapshot.. By that I mean a quickly taken photograph taken to record your trip, not taken with the intention to capture a planned photo with a subject and composition in mind.
