One of the few times I have ever gotten up early enough to take a sunrise pic.
I would like some critique on what I could do to make it better so I might get up early to take some more. The color has not been touched, all I did was straighten it up a bit and adjust the shadows. I really like it but wonder if someones well trained eye see's something a little off. ![]() Camera Nikon D3100 Exposure 0.003 sec (1/400) Aperture f/5.6 Focal Length 55 mm ISO Speed 200 Exposure Bias 0 EV Flash No Flash

How much of a difference would there be with th ISO at 100 or 400 vs. the 200 it was shot at?

I am not nearly qualified to give you too much in the way of a critique - but I do like the photo a lot. Maybe too much sky because there just isn't much in the way of clouds to reflect the colors of the sunrise towards the top of the photo. I also think having the sun in another location i.e. not centered could add something to the shot.
Overall I think it looks like an extremely beautiful place and you should experiment with sunrises there till you get the perfect shot

I do agree with moving the composition but either side there is a tree and if I pan down then I get the level ground of my backyard. I was kind of stuck there for this shot, it was one of those rare days for a clear sky.
My last attempt was through the trees and I could not get that crisp image from it ![]() So I wanted to get the opinion on the one in 1st post as I am still working on another shot like this one.

I'm glad your user picture is small - I don't think I want to see a large version of that
![]() I agree with theeventof's comments. As navcom said, the sun itself is usually not that compelling of a subject. However, you do have those interesting ridge lines and mist. I think if you cropped out some of the sky, it would emphasize the ridge lines and mist. So, in your sunset shots, it's good to include a nice silhouette or some foreground interest. I don't think changing the ISO to 400 or 100 would make much of a difference. You usually want to keep it low to minimize noise.

I cropped the pic and reposted, I like that better.
I put the horizon at the upper third.
