Default San Diego Panorama

I was in San Diego on business last week and had a chance to take a few shoots. I really like this panorama of the city I captured. I know its not quite level but I was wondering what you all thought about the balance of this shot. Are the buildings on the left to strong a focal point? Is there enough interest to draw you attention across the view?

What do you think about the exposurre? I shot this in manual mode and manual focus trying to capture a consistant exposure.

My biggest chalenge putting this together was trying to blend the different hews in the sky from each frame. I'm not so sure I did that good a job. Should I have used a filter when shooting this? What would you recommend?

Thanks in advance

Nicely done. What did you use to combine the photos?

That's one of the nicer panoramas I've seen. Too bad the sky was such a drab color. I don't see how a filter would have helped.

I concur that this is a nice pano. You mentioned that you had to blend all of the hues in each individual frame. Did you keep the same white balance settings for each frame? If so, you shouldn't have to do much--if any--blending. There would also be a natural progression of colors that are already in the sky. That variation is normal and to be expected. Great job!

EOBeav,

Thank you, I think you hit right on the head. I mostly shoot with my WB set to auto taking it off rarely, this is the only setting that was in auto. I always shoot in raw and make any changes to WB when processing but I didn't even think of it when I was processing these.

I shot these about 3 hours after the sun went down. What would you use for a WB setting?

Thank you Krusty79. I like to shot cityscape s well after the has gone down so I always have the drab sky, guess its part of my style some may say even my personality. LOL

Why don't you try some shots after the sun has gone down, but you still have some color in the sky? That way, you get the colorful sky and can still get the city lights. I took a panorama like that the other day, but I have to work on getting rid of the stitch marks. I didn't overlap my images as much as I should have.

Lovely shot! You say you were on business..... you must have a good travel size tripod... mine is pretty bulky so I'd be interested in what you have for travel. Of course I'm assuming you used a tripod of some sort as I don't see how you could keep steady a 15 second exposure.... unless you're just that good
