Default Folly In Carlisle.

Rules applied from last weeks outing - This time are my settings right?

This is straight rule of thirds, as advised last week. this time i saw the thunder / storm clouds heading in and went for a drive, on the way out of Carlisle i had a a raging river shot in mind, i came across another folly (honest i wasnt looking for one) and shot this.

i have enhanced saturation in the grass, folly played with levels on everything else separated everything for pp in sky, folly, trees left, trees right and grass.

pp done:
sky darkened.
folly lightened / saturated.
grass saturated / darkened.
Folly straightened

Basically this Folly leans slightly to the right as you can see on Visit Cumbria, but when i started the pp i found that the slight lye of the land and the folly leaning made it look as if everything was off, so i straightened the folly and let the land look more inclined.
Rickerby Park, Carlisle, cumbria

The hyper focal looks off too but not all that far off?
Power lines will have since been cloned out.

Nice shot, I like the saturation you have in the grass and the sky looks interesting too. I am intrigued by all the different coloured bricks in the folly, would love to see them close up.
Thanks for sharing such a detailed PP process.

The exposure & PPing looks good.

The main compositional problem, to me, is that the tower is almost dead centre (especially horizontally) in the picture.
The "rule of thirds" is a guide only and noit a diety so it can be broken, however it can work very well in some cases..

This pic (not mine) will give you an idea of a subject placed on a third.

cheers for the links Richards.

i tend to find myself concentrating on the things i have read last when im out without actually putting too much though into composition - even though i know most of the other things can be helped in pp where composition cant.

I think i will have to go and practice compositions with singular buildings / items. unfortunately i am back in Wigan now so i will have to look at other follies (i know 1 more i haven't shot) round where and just spend a few hours actually thinking of composure.

Does the land look too much of an incline? im toying with putting it back so the folly tilts, even though when i look at it it makes me think its my fault its tilting.
