I like the composition on this one, just curious if I may have over-processed.

And any other critiques would be appreciated.

Thank you.

The post-processing is definitely quite dramatic... but I think it helps emphasize that great sky.

The only thing I really don't like is the heavy vignette. However, I don't know that the sides of this image are doing much for you (maybe that's why you chose the vignette?). How does this look if you crop out the sides a bit, for a less rectangular composition? With the centered railroad tracks, I almost think a square crop could work here.

Hi there!

I think you have a well-composed shot, however, I do find it over processed. If the sky is that dramatic, why make it surrealistic? I think it would be quite interesting to see the original shot, in colour, so that others can make a comparison and provide advice on how it can be improved without the heavy post-processing.

It's hard to critic on anything else, really, due to the processing. At the end of the day, it's your photo and you're the one who has to be happy with it. But I think that if you have even posted the question if it is over-processed, then you probably know the answer already.

Cheers!

Hello there,

I think you have a good image here. The composition is good and the sky is really interesting. I would say that the question on whether or not something is over-processed is always subjective. The answer depends on what you wanted to achieve with this image. If your goal was a surreal look, I think you achieved it nicely. Not too surreal for my taste, it still has many realistic/normal elements. I think the vignette helps to focus a viewer on the clouds and the rail track.

I thin the post makes the photo really pop, and gives it a more dramatic effect. :0)

Welcome to DPS. That's a very cool, although not realistic, image. I think we all agree it looks overprocessed and not realistic, but was that what you were going for? If you were going for more of the artistic look, then you accomplished that. I'm not a fan of vignetting and I'm curious what it looked like SOOC.
