Default A really gloomy day

Was a really gloomy, overcast day. What little light there was cast a looming shadow over everything, so with the help of Lightroom had a play around with things and came up with this. Would be interested to know what anyone else might have done with this pic in terms of post-production as there wasn't much to play with in the first place.

I like how the image is composed. The placement of the closed shack is good and plays well against the open space on the left. The horizon line is about centered, but the shoreline sits lower, which is kind of nice. There's this texture of the water as it blends into the sky.

The coloring looks like maybe you did some kind of split-tone processing, which is kind of interesting. I'm not a big fan of the heavy vignette.

About the only thing you can do differently is go at a different time to catch some different light or when there's more drama in the sky. I'm not a huge proponent of faking in a new sky into an image because you have to get the lighting just right or it stands out as terribly faked.

I like that.. Might have used a Bleach Bypass filter to make it a bit higher contrast. And I think you've gone a bit strong on the vignette.. It's entirely appropriate here I think, just a bit too strong for my taste.

Other than that, I really like the subject. It's simple and clean. Maybe I'd crop a bit off the left of the picture to 4:3, so that pole wasn't smack bang in the middle of the photo cutting it in half.

I usually don't care for vignettes, but in this case I think it works. Just not so strong. If it had more of a gradient to it where it flowed smoothly instead of the sudden stop. +1 on cropping the left side.

I agree w/SwissJon and would crop some off of the left side. If you have Photoshop CS5 or PSE9 I would get rid of the pole using "content aware fill."
