Default Before and After PP

I've been trying to figure out how to use Post Production to get my photos to pop more. This was taken on a cloudy day. It's downtown Austin from a part of the river walk. This was done with a combination of Picasa and Gimp. Mostly adjusted curves, saturation, brightness, and straightened it. I'm wondering, it looks fine on my screen,...but is it over processed? I mean, I know the photo itself isnt that fab,..but does the PP work look ok?

Here's the original:

And the after editing:

These kind of question need to be posted here:

Comparison - Critique

As for your PP, I think you may have oversaturated the second photo, and you might want to consider doing some lens correction. The second tallest tower appears to be leaning into the photo slightly.

Dude! I did not even know that there was a Comparison Critique section,... I'll know next time, cuz I tend to do this a lot lately. Thanks.

I was wondering if it was over-saturated. I wouldnt even know how to do a lens correction,..thats beyond my rudimentary editing skills. I do see what you mean, but I wonder if it's not possibly just the building.

Did you shoot RAW? You can do more editing to the RAW files before they show noise compared to a jpg.

LoL.. If I ever visit Austin, remind me not to go stand under that building!

I use Lightroom and PS, not Gimp, but I believe the fix can be found under filters>distortion>Lens Distortion, it's apparently fairly intuitive.. Most lenses distort the photo's slightly, meaning straight lines going accross the frame parrallel to the edges aren't quite straight, in this case there appears to be a little pin cushion distortion. Ask Uncle Google about it
