Personally I'm not keen on colour pops, but I think there's a space for them, and looking at this purely from the persective of what you were trying to do I've just a couple of comments.
First: I would have just popped the contents of flower bowl and nothing else.. Adding in the green of the trees is a distraction, there's not enough to add to the picture, and they don't natrually flow from the flowers. Second: It looks like you've slightly oversaturated the colours, or they may be a little over exposed (Especially the bright green and dark pink).. You might want to do a little selective D&B on there to tone them down a little. Remember, it's possible to over expose and burn out a particular colour, like pink or green, just as much as it is to do that with white light. You still lose detail and end up with a flat field of colour.. This seems especially true of the dark pink flower head and some of the green leaves. As I said, this isn't my "thing" but for what you've tried to do, you've done a pretty good job.

hi... thanx for your critiques... a couple of explanation if you please... what is colour pops? all the edits i did here is just high contrast curve, added blacks and a bit of fill light... no addition on the saturation or clarity or vibrance slider at all... all of these are in acr... the rest is just a resize...
however, i do agree that they may be over exposed... i have to check the raw to be sure... i agree a little d&b especially on the dark pink... oh dang.. i think i overdid a high pixel unsharp mask... totally forgot till i opened the new one... but still... i never heard of colour pops... mind explaning what that is? |
