Ok for starters i am a beginning photographer. I've dallied around with film for 20 years now (first ever camera was a kodak disc at the tender age of 7 lol)

Anyways i took this tonight with my FIRST DLSR camera

heres the specs of what i used

Canon Rebel XS
Tamron 75-300mm lens
tripod
iso 800

Now i know this is isn't a great pic. thats why i am posting it. I would like to know what i possibly did wrong

the other thing is this, in the viewfinder you could see the detail clear as day and on the actual picture you can't really see any

Hello,

it seems that your shot is out of focus. Since you say that it looked crisp in the viewfinder, it's possible that your camera tried to focus as you pressed the shutter button to take the picture, and it couldn't focus properly. Is the image clear and detailed when you view it in camera? Another possibility is that you turned the manual focusing ring without noticing.
