Personally, I like it and wouldn't change anything. I love the chair silhouettes against the gorgeous sky.

I think it's a great shot. Personally, I'd prefer it if you had been closer and underneath the subject a little more, so that the trees on the horizon were not in the shot. If it had just been the chairs and wires against that sunset, it would have been perfect for me. Don't get me wrong, though, it's still a fabulous shot. If YOU are happy with it, don't change a thing. If the horizon bothers you, try to re-shoot or Photoshop it out (I know nothing about Photoshop either). I have a preference, of course, but it's still lovely.

I don't think myself qualified to critique, but ill just put my 2 cents in as an amateur ..
![]() I really like your picture.I think the ellipsoid shape of the subject with the clouds streaking in the sky gives it a wonderful sense of expansiveness. I dont know how that would be affected by moving in closer to get more of the chairs against the sky. I do think the trees are a little distracting, maybe if you got down lower you could get more separation between the trees and the bottom of the chairs. But I think that overall the shot has a lot of impact and is lovely to look at. |

I don't know h ow you can take the shot from more underneath and getting the whole subject in the frame. Maybe take the shot from the other side to see if there are less distractions?
It think it's cropped a little too tight...I don't know, maybe that's just me. It feels as if it's not evenly cropped on the sides and screaming some room. On the left side of the photo, one of the rider's foot is almost cut off and I think that's a little distracting. The sky is just magnificent in this image that perhaps, there should have been more of it, then the trees perhaps wouldn't be so distracting. I actually think the flag is more distracting than the trees. |

I like the composition. I find my eye wandering around from chair to chair. And it has nice contrast with good balance.
While it certainly wouldn't replace this one, another interesting shot might have been to set up a tripod and do a bit of a time lapse to catch the movement. Nice job!

I think you pretty much nailed that one. Sometimes we want to tweak when no tweaks are needed. Very nice shot!

You aren't quite central.. I'd like to see a little more space between the riders feet and the edge of the picture on the right hand side.
If you're any good with PS, I'd clone out the light posts and the wires, but leave the building and the trees. Other than that it's a lovely picture, well done.

Thank you everyone!!! I decided to enter it in the contest. I couldn't get closer to the ride (my lens would only go to 12mm). I tried to clone out the telephone/electrical lines but the different tones of the sky didn't allow it. I don't know photoshop all that well and I suppose there would be an easier way to clean that up...
Thank you once again for your suggestions and encouragement! Jason |
