Default A corvette is a rare ocassion in this farmtown

taken with 100mm macro f/2.8 1/20th shutter iso 400. minimal sharpening in ps along with split toning.

Corvette

Do you like the composition?
Would you have rather seen a crisp background? (higher shutter)
Would you have color corrected it a different way?
Do you think I should have set my aperture wider to get a shallower depth of field?

The composition is fine... it would have been nice to leave a little more room in the front of the car, that does two things: it doesn't make the car dead center which is kinda drab...and it gives the car visually some place to go.

The pan was a perfect choice. Having the back ground in focus would have been a shot-killer. ditto more dof.

you can almost make out the drivers face, looks like he is looking at the camera...i might either dodge it so you can make him out better or burn it so you can't. I'm thinking burn would be better since who he is is not important to the shot.
nice capture.

I like the movement blur, and you got it spot on.. Hard to do. I think the depth of field is just fine. I think with a silver car, you have to desarutate the colours that aren't a part of the subject, so that the subject becomes more promenant.

Zona's right about putting more space ahead of the car, and I think burning him so he's darker would be a good thing..

As Zona and Jon said, leaving a bit more space in front would work. I think there is a slight bluish colour cast, or maybe you wanted it there? The shallow dof is great as it separates the car from the distracting background. Although you did great with panning, I think some sharpening of the car would be nice. The driver looks like he's yawning.

Thanks for the advice. I usually do like a bit of space ahead but I couldn't in the situation. I have a fixed focal length lens and it was a real spur of the moment shot. I already did darken his face in photoshop, apparently not enough. And I did bump up the blues a little bit as milosh said. Also I already sharpened the car as much as I could without it being blatantly noticable

I really like the sense of motion here. Did you have your IS switch on while you panned it?

I have the non-L version of the 100mm macro which doesn't have IS. so no I didn't.
