Default New lens fresh blooms

Purchased a 70-200 f2.8L IS II lens
it has literally rained everyday I have had it until today. Monday work day, go figure
I am really struggling with the DOF I can not seem to get a decent amount of the flower in focus. Could you all take a look at my settings and the picture. I actually went to the green box for a couple and stil not toally pleased. I rented this lens (well one like it) before I bought it outside I had no problem. I spent the extra grand for the 2.8 for indoor use also.
Keep in mind the picture is inside and nothing but florecent lights in the kitchen.

Max Aperture Value 2.8

Metering Mode Partial

Is the partial metering an issue with it?

Just in thinking about your situation: The wider your aperture is, the less depth of field (focus) you're going to have to work with. If your flowers are at an angle to your lens, then some of it is going to be in focus, and some of it isn't. You can use that effect to your advantage, but it's just something you need to be aware of when setting up your shot and choosing the settings on your camera and lens.

This is Macro photography (Put simply, it's stuff up close) this thread is for Landscape photography. But a quick commnet.. You've oversharpened your image.. There's a slight halo.

Thanks I stuggled with were it should go , but I remembered some one posting a macro similar to this depth and they were told it wasn't really a macro.

I forgot to do the all important zoom in after the editing to check for flaws, Really new at elements also. I have put more effort into getting it right in the camera rather than the PC. This lens is just a lot of new to get use to. I didn't think the wieght would trip me up as much as it has either. Forward we tredge though!

FYI, I just showed your flickr thread of the tower, shack, moon and flower shop to the folks at work. Your photos are a real treat they all ohhed and awwwed over them.
