Cool Blue Moon

Hi all,

I'd like some thoughts on this shot of the moon, is there too much negative space etc.
All critique welcome as i want to improve my photography.

I haven't got enough experience to comment on the technicalities, but I like this shot. I don't think the negative space is bad. I like this photo a lot, it's very peaceful

The moon part of the shot is great but I think you already know the answer to your question; yes, there is too much negative space. That being said, I think you made the best of the situation, you just needed a longer lens. I have seen successful images where the primary point of focus was this small, but that normally works where there is at least some interest in the negative area; a field of grain, the texture of cloth, etc.

If like shooting the moon, I would recommend you take your camera out on the 19th March. The moon will be closest to the Earth in 19years. You will get a pretty big moon that day

Sorry about the lack of EXIF data

Canon 350D
Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 Lens -w- Sigma 2x Teleconverter
F-stop f/16
Focal length 400mm
Exposure 1/50th Second
ISO 100

The shot was taken on a tripod with a remote shutter release.
The only post processing done was the duplication of the shot with layer mode set to multiply in CS5 to deepen and bring out the blue of the sky!!
