Default Fog on Golden Gate Bridge

I thought I would post another one of my images for a critique since I can't decide if I chose the best composition. I like how the fog is entering the bridge from the right side, but I could not decide how much of it to include. I finally decided to play it "safe" and use the rule of thirds and gave it the right third of the image. Does that look correct to you? Or do you find yourself wanting to see more of the fog? Less? It does get pretty featureless the farther to the right you go.

Also, would you crop out some of the rocks at the bottom? I wanted to keep the water reflections, so I didn't crop anymore from the bottom. Thanks for your input.

Put me down as one waiting for a bit more fog to roll in. very nice shot, but I can't help but wish a bit more of the bridge was obscured by the fog,

(To be honest, I almost didn't click on this link because "Golden Gate Bridge" and "fog" are seen so often together that they are nearly synonymous. I didn't think you could bring anything new to the mix, but darned if you didn't. Nicely done.)

Thanks Lee, I respect your opinion, so I'm glad to get your feedback. I was waiting to see if the fog would move in to cover more of the bridge, but it never did. Instead, a few minutes later, a bank of fog rolled in from my left, obscuring the entire bridge, so I took a couple of foggy shots and called it a night. I'll try not to take the same shots as everyone else of this iconic bridge.

I really like the picture, although i will go the opposite and say in my opinion id prefer there was a little less fog on the right just for the reason that my eye automatically gets drawn the bright section where the bridge meets the fog, my eye from there strays off to the right which as you said is pretty featureless.

Again thats just my opinion (an amatuer one at that) but the picture was too nice not to comment on.

Good job

It's a cool idea for a shot of, as you call it, an iconic bridge. My only criticism is the composition: I feel that I'm too far away from the bridge. I'm not sure I would have recognized it as the GG if it wasn't in the title. That may not be a bad thing, though...

GlennD - Thanks for the comments. I think part of the problem is that lights on the bridge are so bright and the foggy area is pretty dark. I tried to burn the bright area on the right side of the bridge where you can see all of the headlights at the toll plaza, but it's still very bright and attracts the eye. I might the clone tool and see if I can darken it so it that area doesn't stand out.

EOBeav - That was as close as I could get with my 18-55 lens. A telephoto lens is on my gear lust list. I already cropped the image because I knew the bridge didn't fill up the image. I'll be able to get some skyline shots of SF after I get a telephoto...
